Bait bike operation yields two arrests in downtown Danville

DANVILLE – Two Concord residents have been arrested in the past week during a “bait bike” operation set up by the Danville Police Department.

In mid-October, police used a cable lock to secure a bicycle equipped with a GPS tracking device to a bike rack near the intersection of Hartz Ave and Railroad Ave. Police say a suspect, who they later identified as Carlos Villanueva (43) from Concord, cut the lock and stole the bike.

Villanueva was arrested on the Iron Horse Trail in Alamo a short time later. He was booked into jail for grand theft.

On Tuesday at around 6:40 am, officers were notified by the bicycle’s GPS system and responded to the downtown area. Using the GPS location, they located and arrested Sebastian Joseph Hall (27) from Concord for grand theft and probation violation.
