Danville police investigating explosion of “unknown device” in shopping center parking lot

DANVILLE – Police are looking for suspects in a Sunday evening incident where two vehicles were damaged in the Smart & Final parking lot, 460 Diablo Road.  

Police Chief Allan Shields said officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7:12 p.m. on Sunday.

On arrival officers found that an unknown device exploded, causing minor damage to two vehicles in the parking lot. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Investigators examined the scene, and are working to determine the cause as well as persons associated with the small explosion, police said.
