Blackhawk man stabbed by elderly neighbor Wednesday night

BLACKHAWK – Deputies arrested a 69-year-old man Wednesday night after he allegedly used a knife to slash the tires of a neighbor’s vehicle and stab his neighbor.

At around 11:00 pm Wednesday night, deputies were dispatched to a citizen’s 911 call reporting there was an unknown subject pounding on the front door of a residence on Conifer Terrace, in the unincorporated community of Blackhawk. Shortly after, a second caller advised police that her husband had sustained a stab wound from a knife-wielding neighbor. The caller also reported the assailant slashed the tires of the victim’s vehicle prior to the attack.

Contra Costa Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and located one victim suffering a stab wound to the abdomen. Deputies, along with officers from the Danville Police Department, surrounded the suspect’s residence while paramedics treated the victim.

Deputies were able to communicate with the suspect by calling the residence’s landline telephone. The suspect exited the residence with hands raised and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect’s spouse, who was also inside the residence, was interviewed by deputies.

The suspect, a 69-year-old Blackhawk man, was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on felony vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon charges. He has since been released.

Resources from the sheriff’s office crime lab arrived at the scene early Thursday morning to further investigate.
