Police: Mom had child inside stolen vehicle during Thursday pursuit

DANVILLE – Police have a woman in custody after she led officers on a slow pursuit through downtown with her child inside a stolen vehicle.

According to town spokesperson Geoff Gillette, 42-year-old Christina Quezada of Salinas refused to pull over when officers attempted a traffic stop at around 2 pm Thursday.

Police wanted to stop the vehicle, a silver Nissan Rogue, because it had been reported stolen out of Marina, California.

Quezada led officers on a “slow speed” pursuit for around one mile before being stopped by traffic, Gillette said.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located the suspect’s child inside. Gillette said the child was taken into protective custody.

Quezada was charged with vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, evading police, and child endangerment.
