San Ramon man uninjured after interrupted burglary Thursday morning

SAN RAMON – Police are investigating an interrupted burglary of an occupied home near the San Ramon Golf Club Thursday morning.

At around 11:20 am Thursday, police received a call from a resident on Cherry Hills Lane who said two masked men entered his residence 5 minutes prior. He reportedly went to a neighboring residence to call police after the suspects left.

Police say the resident was sleeping inside the home when the two suspects knocked on the front door. The victim did not answer the door and the suspects broke into the home.

The resident was able to get away and there were no reported injuries, according to Sergeant Nathan Jones.

Officers arrived and attempted to track the suspects with a police canine. No suspects were located.

Jones said criminals like the ones in Thursday’s incident are looking for unoccupied homes to burglarize. It’s important for residents to verbalize they are home, either through speaking or using security systems like Ring doorbell, so thieves know someone is home but will not answer the door, Jones said.
