Firefighters battle Fourth of July morning garage fire in Danville

DANVILLE – Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire at a Danville home during the early morning hours of the Fourth of July.

Just after midnight, firefighters were dispatched to a report of a car on fire inside a garage of a residence on Shelly Place.

Officers from the Danville Police Department were first on the scene and found the fire had spread to the garage, which appeared to be fully engulfed.

They confirmed the residents had evacuated the home and began to evacuate and alert other nearby residents.

The fire spread into the attic of the home, but firefighters had the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

Some apparatus used to fight the fire was seen in Danville’s Fourth of July Parade just hours later.
