21-year-old dies after solo motorcycle crash in Danville

DANVILLE – Police are investigating a single motorcycle fatal accident Wednesday afternoon that resulted in the closure of Camino Tassajara for several hours.

Update: August 19th, 2017 – investigators have determined the cause of the accident to be an “unsafe lane change.”

Danville Police Lt Allan Shields said the incident occurred at 7:12 pm, on Camino Tassajara at Sycamore Valley Road. The rider was driving west when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.

The rider was seriously injured in the crash and was treated by paramedics from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District before being pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Shields said the motorcycle rider was wearing his helmet.

The rider was a 21-year-old man from the east coast.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The accident shut down Camino Tassajara at Sycamore Valley Road and westbound Sycamore Valley Road for several hours while authorities investigated.
