San Ramon Police Vehicle Rear-Ended By DUI Driver Saturday Evening

SAN RAMON – A driver was arrested for DUI after rear-ending a San Ramon Police Service Technician protecting a stalled vehicle.

Police say the collision occurred at 5:29 pm Saturday evening when a San Ramon Police Service Technician (PST) was sitting in her vehicle, behind a stalled vehicle on the Crow Canyon Road overpass to I-680.

The PST used her radio to call for assistance after being rear-ended. Witnesses tell Danville San Ramon Updates the driver of the vehicle appeared disoriented as he exited the vehicle.

According to San Ramon Police Lieutenant Denton Carlson, the PST was transported to the hospital for minor injuries, then later released.

The driver who rear-ended her vehicle was later arrested by CHP for driving under the influence.

Carlson said although the collision occurred in San Ramon, the California Highway Patrol investigated the accident as an outside agency since the collision involved a San Ramon Police vehicle.

San Ramon Police say there were two other DUI arrests in San Ramon last week.
