SAN RAMON – Police are investigating a series of window-smash car burglaries and vandalisms that reportedly occurred sometime Wednesday night/ Thursday morning.
Throughout the day Thursday, officers were alerted to 17+ incidents involving smashed vehicle windows in San Ramon. Police say they believe at least 13 of the incidents occurred between 10 pm Wednesday and 6 am Thursday.
Most of the criminal activity occurred in the neighborhoods west of San Ramon Valley Blvd between Pine Valley Road and Bollinger Canyon Road, police said.
One vehicle was stolen after an unknown suspect located a key fob inside a different vehicle during one break-in. That vehicle was later located.
Police say only two of the vehicles that were vandalized/burglarized had items stolen from the inside.
Police originally said they were investigating 13 incidents, but Danville San Ramon Updates has learned at least 4 more victims came forward Thursday evening, bringing the total up to 17. At least one of the later victims said something was taken from the vehicle.
San Ramon Police alerted the community to the incidents via social media, and asked the public to be aware, “Please remind your friends and neighbors to remove all valuables from their cars! And always report suspicious activity to our Dispatch at 925-973-2779.”
